COULD VAPING HARM YOUR TEETH?

The bad health effects of smoking are well known, particularly relating to heart and lung diseases. Smoking has also been clearly linked to the increased risk of cancers of the mouth.

What about vapes? Surely the risks are lower??

Vapes are neither nicotine free nor are they safe. Some of the chemicals found in vapes or E-cigarettes include

· Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)

· Benzaldehyde

· Transcinnamaldehyde

· 2-chlorophenol

These chemicals at the very least will irritate the lungs but PAH has been shown to be a cancer causing chemical. The heat created in the mouth by vaping can potentially turn lesions in the mouth that are not yet cancerous into cancer.

Vapes do not belong in a healthy lifestyle and for the sake of your oral health, give them a miss.
